ya, i thought it was kind of funny how Rory tried to talk himself up against Tiger, and then Tiger (who was playing poorly all week) came back to beat him by a stroke.
i don't really care if Rory, who hasn't really won anything, wants to run his mouth, that's his problem, i could care less. but i think it's just a bad idea to taunt Tiger in general, even Phil talks down about challenging Tiger, because Tiger looks for that extra motivation to prove something. Tiger is a lot like Jordan in that sense. Jordan would look for anything to be his motivation to stay on top. for instance, the '97 playoffs, Karl Malone wins the mvp, jordan thought he deserved it, they meet the Jazz in the finals, Jordan scores 40 with the flu, and hits the series winner in game 6. I think Tiger is a lot like that, if you call him out, he uses that as extra motivation to beat you. sure, it's probably just a coincidence that he beat rory, but i still think it's not a good idea from a player's perspective. as a fan, it's fun to see these guys make it interesting, just to see how each player responds with their play, cause that's all that matters anyway.
