Anyone know for sure if Furyk knew he was tied for the lead when he was about to tee off on 17? I can't help but think that if he'd played those last 2 holes a little more conservatively, there would be a playoff today.

Comments?

I get Golf Week Magazine and there's nothing to suggest Furyk knew. What's interesting is that none of the professionals seem to be the slightest bit surprised that Cabrera won. While the television commentators all said his putting was weak and he couldn't win at Oakmont, the pros who were interviewed all seem to think he is a great course manager and that his win shouldn't be the slightest bit discounted as any kind of fluke.

Totally agree with Dennis' comment. Cabrera kept his head, and played the course well. His putting was also stellar, and those things ultimately made him the victor. He deserved that win, not a fluke at all.

Just today it was announced that while Tiger played the last round, Elin was in the hospital with complications before Sam's birth. I guess under the circumstances, I'm a bit amazed he played as well as he did. I know I coundn't have.
