| Official 2007 AT&T National Discussioin Thread The AT&T National is a PGA Tour event held in the Washington D.C. area during the Fourth of July weekend. The event is hosted by Tiger Woods and benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. The first AT&T National will be held from July 5-8, 2007, and, at least for its first two years, will be hosted by the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
The event was officially announced on March 7, 2007 and will replace The International, which tour officials abruptly cancelled on February 8, 2007. The AT&T National will not replicate the modified Stableford system that the International had.[1]
The last tour event to be held in the D.C. area was the Booz Allen Classic, which was terminated after the 2006 event.
Before the TWF announcement, tour officials had also considered courses in the Kansas City and Minneapolis-St. Paul areas for this new tournament. Since the Congressional Country Club will be hosting the 2009 U.S. Amateur and 2011 U.S. Open, the AT&T National will need to find a different host course starting in 2009.
CBS and The Golf Channel will carry the AT&T National, which is the third event on the PGA Tour to be sponsored by the telecommunications giant. The others are the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and the AT&T Classic (formerly the BellSouth Classic).
