Should i Change Flex?

At the moment ive got the old nike sasquatch with a regular flex all of a sudden i cant get the ball in the air i think this is because of my shaft flex!! as its wipping to much on impact should i change my flex or is something else wrong

Thanks!

There's an old saying about a craftsman and his tools, try bigger Tees. I changed from 2 3/4 to 3 3/4 inch tees this year and it has definitely given me more loft and carry. Because its teed so much higher, you have a tendency to swing up at the ball. Tees are the cheapest way I can think of to help with your problem.

Too whippy a flex would cause shots to slice or pull, it shouldn't have any affect on loft. If you can't get the ball up, it would seem to me that your hitting the ball at or above the ball's equator, almost topping it, although with those big tees that should be a hard task to accomplish. Try moving the ball back in your stance and put the tee in line with the heel of the left foot. If that doesn't help, I'd strongly suggest you talk to your club pro.

If you're making solid contact, but the ball is just flying really low, there's probably not a whole lot wrong with your swing. On the other hand, if you're hitting the ball thin, or topping the ball, well you should be able to tell that; then you've got some swing issues.

The SQ is a tour setup club for a boring type of shot trajectory. The shaft you have might have a high kickpoint, which promotes a lower ball flight. Do some research on the shaft that is in it and check on that. You might just need a low kickpoint shaft. A good one for that is the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue.

If that doesn't help out, it is a swing problem. I had a friend of mine with a 10.5 loft driver, and a low kickpoint shaft hitting the ball 20 feet off the ground at the beginning of the year. I worked with him for about 15 minutes and it turned out he was getting stuck with his weight too far back, which had him throwing his hands at the ball to compensate. That led to closed face and a really low ball flight. We got his weight shift fixed by promoting more turn rather than arms and now he's shooting mid 70s consistently, carrying a handicap of 2.7 this year, along with two mini tournament wins.

If the new shaft doesn't help, consult a pro.
