Kaymer hits the front
Germany’s Martin Kaymer eagled the third at Le Golf National to become the early front-runner at the Open de France ALSTOM.
Starting his round at the tenth, the 24 year old birdied four of the back nine to go out in 32.
He then birdied the 415 yard first and his three on the 563 yard par five two holes later took him to six under through 13.
Six players were in a tie for second two shots further back. Miguel Angel Jiménez - playing his 500th European Tour event - was joined by Jeev Milkha Singh, Taco Remkes, local favourite Thomas Levet and Australian duo Richard Green and Scott Strange.
Last week’s BMW International Open winner Nick Dougherty played his first 11 holes in two under par for an early share of 12th place.
