Nationality: American
Turned Professional: 1996
Current Tour: LPGA

Background:
Christie Kerr, like many professional male and female golfers, began at a young age (8). She credits her family with supporting her career. As successful amateur player, (she was the low amateur at the 1996 U.S Women’s Open- Kerr turned pro in 1996. In 1999, she was plagued with a back problem that was caused by her ballooning weight. Kerr worked to lose 50 lbs and soon saw her game rebound as a result of her regular exercise and training programs. She has been instrumental in raising money for Breast Cancer Research through her “Birdies for Breast Cancer” Foundation, and works with the Evelyn Lauder Breast Cancer Research Foundation as a spokesperson (her mother was diagnosed with the disease in 2003). She lives in Manhattan on a part-time basis.

Professional Career Bio:
After a slow professional start, Kerr won her first professional LPGA event in 2002 (Longs Drug Challenge). Just two short years later, she became one of the leading players on the tour, winning three tournaments and ranking 5th on the money list. Although she has not won a major to date - her best finish a T2nd at the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open - she does have seven LPGA tour wins. Her putting and iron play being the key to her success, Kerr was ranked second in LPGA scoring (Annika Sorenstam was 1st) in 2005, finishing in the Top 10 of her entered tournaments.
A tournament record of -19 under par finish in the Franklin American Mortage Championship was her first win of 2006.
