Background & Professional Career Bio:
David Alexander Howell may have failed to qualify for the 2006 British Open, but his debut onto the world golf scene with impressive wins at both the 2006 HSBC Champions Tournament and the 2006 BMW Championship saw him bolstered up to a number 13 ranking in the Official World Golf Rankings – a trifecta of sorts. It was a career high for Howell, who up until 2005 hadn’t won a European Tour event since the Dubai Desert Classic in 1999, a high for the British golf world (the highest ranking of a British golfer ) ,and the highest ranked European. For a time, Howell even moved up to 9th on the list (June 2006). His best finish to date on the PGA TOUR was his tie for 5th at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Howell has also represented Great Britain at the Alfred Dunhill Cup, the Seve Trophy Team in 2000, 2003 and 2005 and the 2004 winning Ryder Cup Team. He currently leads the European Tour Order of Merit with earnings of €1,895,631. Howell is a native of Swindon, UK.
