Background & Professional Career Bio:
Lorena Ochoa first picked up a golf club at the age of five and began winning events the following year. It was her good fortune to live next door to the Guadalajara Country club, and she took full advantage – winning 22 state events and 44 national events in Mexico. She attended the University of Arizona for two years, and despite winning the NCAA Player of the Year Awards for 2001 and 2002, she decided to leave to turn pro.
In 2003, she topped the money list and was Rookie of the Year. Ochoa won her first two LPGA titles in 2004, and placed in the top ten in three of the four LPGA majors. The 2006 Nabisco Classic allowed Ochoa to prove herself as a player of fortitude- holding off Karrie Webb through three rounds, only to lose in a playoff that marks her best finish to date in a LPGA major.
