Background & Professional Career Bio:

His nickname is “The Iceman”. Known for his cool presence under pressure, Retief Goosen is quickly following in the footsteps of his South African mentor, the great Ernie Els. Goosen began his career at the age of eleven. He made headlines during his Amateur career for being struck by lightning at sixteen, and has suffered on and off with his health since. His record is one of marked consistency: an international win every year since 1995, a PGA Tour event per year since 2001 and time in the top five Official World Golf Rankings. In 2006, he reached a career high of third. He topped the European Order of Merit in both 2001 and 2002 and stunned the world at the 2004 U.S. Open with his mastery of putting under fast, challenging conditions.
