Charl Schwartzel recorded back-to-back victories on the PGA European Tour for the first time in his career when he captured the Joburg Open by an impressive six shots on Sunday.

Continuing the rich vein of form he exhibited in East London when he won the African Open, Schwartzel pulled away over the last two rounds at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. His seven-under-par 64 in the third round was the best round of the day, while his 66 in the final round was the equal second best score over the final 18 holes.

Schwartzel's winning total of 23-under-par 261 improved the tournament's record, held by 2007 champion Ariel Canete, by four shots. His six-shot victory was also the largest in the history of the event. In addition, he was the first-ever wire-to-wire winner in the short history of the Joburg Open.
