Background

Sergio Garcia began setting records at age 14 when he was the youngest player to make the cut at a European Tour event. He went on to win the European Amateur Championship the same year, the youngest to do so. His Amateur career wins include: Eisenhower Trophy(1996, 1998), St Andrews Trophy (1996, 1998) Junior Ryder Cup: (1995, 1997), and the Jacques Leglise Trophy 1994, 1995, 1996 (winners), 1997, 1998.
Professional Career Bio:

Garcia continued to make a name for himself when he went head to head with Tiger Woods in the 1999 PGA Championship – where he closed his eyes and swung and ended up with a shot on the green. In 2001, he won his first PGA Tour event (2001 MasterCard Colonial), as well as the Buick Classic. Although he had no wins in 2003, he used the time to work on his swing – previously his signature due to its “waggling” form prior to taking a hot. It paid off in 2004, earning Garcia wins at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship and the Buick Classic. In total, he has six European Tour wins and six PGA Tour wins, yet none have been majors. Internationally, he has ranked up wins at the Ryder Cup (2000; 2004), the Seve Trophy (2000) and the Dunhill Cup (1999). His career high on the Official World of Golf Rankings is five.
His personal best includes an Albatross (double eagle) on a par 5 in a practice round at the 2002 Masters.
