What's the difference between shaft types. I know that there is Graphite and Steel and whatever, but what's the differnece. The same goes for the flex. I know there is Stiff and regulay and other, but what's the difference?
The way I would describe it is, Steel bends a lot less than graphite does, so theoretically the less bending in the shaft the less error that would occur in your swing, giving you straighter shots. But, because steel bends less you dont get the nice kick you would from a graphite shaft, so you lose distance. Graphite shafts work the same way, a stiff shaft is for people with higher swing speeds so they can control the club head better, a regular flex shaft would probably help a person with moderate swing speed, or, they just like the kick a regular shaft gives on a wood.
