Women Players On Men's Tour

This has been a bit of a hot topic in the golfing world for a few years now, so what do you guys think about the situation overall? Should women be able to compete in men's golf tournaments if they can compete and beat some men?

Or should they have to stay on their own tour.

I know this might sound bad but I think they should stick to the LPGA. I mean I am sure there are WNBA players who can ball better than some NBA bench players, but that doesn't mean they should take their spots. The PGA and LPGA are two different games with different tees and different audiences. Why combine them?

Think I'm an idiot? Let me know why!:D

Of course the racial issue will be brought up. So eventually the program will have to do it. Unless the girls aren't as competitive as the men, I don't think it will happen.
It isn't really a racial issue as it is a sexist one. They are two very different things.

And I think I might be reading this wrong but are you saying that the girls will be able to play with the men only if they are not competitive enough to play with the men? Maybe it is a misprint :)

I think some women CAN play better then the worse men players. Sorenstan has proven this somewhat before. That isn't saying much though.

And it also brings up the question, should men be able to play in the LPGA?
Bah. You read it wrong. ;)

If you look closely, I said you are right UNLESS they play up to par with the men.

Also I meant to say sexist not racist.
Even if they do play up to par with men I think they should have seperate tours though. It is just my opinion but it seems to make more sense to keep different leagues for the different sexes.

Like I said before, women would not want the mediocre men players playing on their tour.
Well if you put it that way than I could change my mind. Just like the NBA, there is a WNBA. Yeah I think seperate leagues are better. Although some people might disagree since there is no physical contact.
I think they should have Women and Men very seperate. Not only is their a skill difference, there would be tension most likely and the stats wouldn't be fair. The men at the top and the women at the bottom? Most women are as good as eachother and most men are as good as eachother but not intertwined are the two good with eachother. (Long Sentence)
There is definatly a tension between the two sexes. I know some players, Vijay in particular, have displayed disgust at the possibility of women on the men's tour. There could be a clash in that regards if it ever does happen.

Good stuff.
I have heard Vijay do that. I think I saw an interview of him, if you say he thinks that way. I wasn't too sure of who it was, but he was saying that he doesn't want girls on tour with him. He gave some good points which I put out right now.
Not trying to be sexist, I know that any LPGA player could kick my butt, but the ladies should stay on the ladies tour. As an alternative, combine the PGA and LPGA and then watch the ladies complaine and whine because they can't win any tournaments.
I think that the women should have an equal chance and be able to play with the top players of each gender.
I think like basketball and other sports men should play with men and women with women. Maybe in huge tournaments or something women can play if they make the cut but other than that no.
I think some people in this thread need to open their eyes a little. Yes some sports should not combine men and women into one league, but golf is a different type of sport.

In games like tennis we see men and women playing together all the time. The same should apply for golf. Golf is a sport where physical contact is not required and anyone can play who can swing a club. If Annika can outswing some men, why can't she compete?

This isn't the 50s guys.

If men and women played at an equal skill level, that'd be great. But, men are better than women at golf. That's not meant to be offensive to any women, but to see it any other way would be ignorant. Also, by combining the tours, there would only be half the events, half the winners, and half the excitement we get from the seperated tours as it is.
In my opinion women should be considered equal to men. They have gotten past segration years ago and shouldnt have to face it on the course so if they are good enough then they should be able to play with whomever they want.
Half the tours? Half the excitement?

Not sure what tours you watch tiger, but no one watches the women. Not even other women. Sports is something that is primarily marketed and watched by men. So it is not surprising that women sports often get overlooked. Not too many women are interested in seeing fellow members of their sex play golf.

Because of this...the best women players should be allowed to play the big PGA events...what are the men afraid of if they aren't as good?
